About
Illuminate Inclusion has a clear vision: to help create inclusive communities where everybody, regardless of neurodivergent condition or physical disability, has access to shared spaces and has equal opportunities to succeed.
We offer a variety of services for individuals and families who are seeking support to manage the impact of neurodivergent conditions and disabilities. We also work closely with professional organisations through our training and consultancy services to help make environments more accessible for everyone.
Illuminate Inclusion was founded by Miriam Saffer, a consultant in neurodiversity, inclusion and SEND. We are backed by professionals across the education and, healthcare sectors, with different skillsets and a shared passion for working towards a more inclusive and accessible world for all.
What do you mean by neurodiversity and inclusion?
Inclusion is all about creating an environment that enables everyone to be part of the group. Whether it’s at work, school, out in the community or at home, everybody has the right to participate and be given access to the support they need to succeed. Lack of inclusion can negatively affect many individuals and groups across society, including those from ethnic and religious minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, women and those with disabilities. At Illuminate Inclusion, our expertise is in supporting inclusion for those with disabilities, in particular for those with neurodivergent conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and a wide range of mental health conditions.
Neurodiversity is a term that explains the different ways our brains work. It describes the idea that people all experience and interact with the world around them in different ways although, for some individuals, their experiences differ more than others. The majority of people are neurotypical and experience the world in similar ways, leaving those who think a bit differently at a disadvantage. People with neurodivergent conditions, such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia, often need adjustments or additional support to ensure they are included.
